Show off your Peas!

I have had Muscovy ducks, guineas and chickens hatch out in the loft of my barn and that is 12 feet up, the mommas coax then down, they hurl themselves down if i do not make it to help them, ain't lost one yet so if you do not make it i am sure she will coax them down, at least they have some flight feathers when they hatch.

Kinda like wood ducks having a nest 30 feet up and calling the babies down? Guess it's a good thing they are so light weight when they hatch... Things like that amaze me.

Here's little Chicken Girl on her nest...
She's on the roof of a gazebo, so happy she's off the ground.
I have 11 eggs all scattered around the pen right now. You can sort of tell when they are just laying an egg at random and when they are actually thinking about making a nest so they lay the egg in a specific location. I am finding lots of eggs under the perches making me think that some of the peahens are laying eggs when they are off the ground but the eggs are not cracking when they land. Today I found the first evidence of what could possibly be the first actual nest. Under the nest boxes I found a scratched out depression with an egg. Normally they don't sit on the first eggs they lay so since they have laid a few I am thinking this will be an actual nest so that is exciting! I will have to take photos tomorrow. I have been too busy with school and other things to get on here and to take photos.

Yes I've wanted peacocks for a very long time. I just got my first incubator two weeks ago, so now I'm seriously thinking about eggs. I've been looking all over the Internet and CL and paper for local places but no such lunch yet. :(

As zaz pointed out, there are other threads where you'll get much more information and help regarding eggs and hatching.
