Show off your Peas!

Does he really think she's male? The iPad needs the hitting head on wall emoticon.

I don't know for sure, the last big peafowl sexing discussion, he said he had them backwards and switched the names. Calypso died as did Jadea, and I assumed this one is still alive and he still thought it a male now because it displays and tried to fight with Colbolt thru the fence.

I'm saying she's a hen though she hates everybody. She tries attacking anything except me. Not sure why, reason why I'm not putting her with Colbolt is because I'm going to show her and when ever I put animals that are tame and put them with wild animals the tame animal goes wild so I'm waiting til after show. When Calypso died I put a hen she attacked her put the rooster attacked her tried keeping her with Jadea and Colbolt and they both attacked her when she tried attacking both or them. She hates everybody except me I guess.

She is beautiful but why would you want to show a mutt? i mean the purpose of the show is to show what the bred standard is right?
Since she does not represent the true standards of a pure indian blue ,pied, white or otherwise because she is a spalding IMO you should start over with birds you know are pure, you can surly find a yearling trio for about as much as the hen you said you were getting unless you got some kind of great deal on one.

Also attitude is everything sometimes and you say she has a bad one, what judge will want to handle a mean bird?

I know not everyone has multiple pens so this may not even be possible, but have you tried putting them in a new(neutral territory) pen when introducing them? This usually helps with mine, otherwise there is almost always some fighting, unless one is a very submissive bird by nature. I do have a hen like that, she will just submit and never fights back, she can be put in with just about any other group and be okay as she just automatically assumes low position in the pecking order. They are all different. Good to hear you are aware she is a hen.

Never tried keeping them in a neutral area. Judge doesn't really handle our birds to much just pets them on the back. I can't find any chicks in ID because people are having the same problem or similar. The chicks develop and die in the egg or they hatch out and are very weak and die. The only deal I can get is $40 for a peahen that is on the bottom of the pecking order with 10 other peafowl. Otherwise I have to pay $50 for a different peahen or $100 for a pair. I don't need any more males right now. When I don't have Thora on tether she's turns to don't mess with me or I will tear you up but once on tether she doesn't try to fight it. I can't keep her on a tether though 24/7. I wonder how well show will be since peafowl are not common in ID and I will be the first to show peafowl and the judge can ask any question about any bird that's on the table so this is going to be interesting for everybody else. I might show an IB or White next year.
