Those of you out there experienced white Pea owners. .what is a realistic age to be able to sex them? I know most I've read is a year old but hoping maybe more like 6-9 months? ? Of course I'll post progressive pics for everyone's input but...what can I say...I know I know pea keepers can't be impatient..but that I am!! Lol
As always beautiful pics Zaz!
Whites can be very difficult to sex. Generally the male will be taller than the female. Also the male will get spur bumps faster than the female. Eventually the male will also get herl on his train feathers (the wispy things on the train feathers) and that will let you know it is a male as well.I have a IB pair a few years old. But I recently purchased two Whites. They were just hatched in Mid-late June so still early but I'm already leaning towards a pair because of their legs. .??
How did you get started feeding a squirrel? Is it a wild one or did you raise it? The local squirrel population has gotten fairly used to me and come running when they see me feeding the peafowl. I haven't tried hand feeding a squirrel before, but they do get close to me. What are you feeding it?
How many white do you have? If you they're several, you should be able to get an idea by watching for size differences. I had 4 last year and I think they were around 7-8 months when I could tell there were 2 males and 2 females.
