SHOW OFF YOUR YUM! Food Photography Thread

Michael is bolting up the coast line. It beat the cold front. If the storm was slower, the front would have pushed it over the center of Fl. We are in a Tornado watch mode until tonight.
YOU ARE IN THE PATH! Please listen to the weather warnings.
Irma whacked us bad. This is what adds "insult to injury", so add these to your prep list please.
  1. 30 weight oil for your generator. No matter how new your unit is it can consume oil and burn up from constant use.
  2. You can never have enough gas. We lost power for 7 days. OMG- the generator powering or freezers drank enough to fill a tanker. Plus gas stations will need power to pump & SELL OUT FAST-& mile long lines only to get your turn & find yellow bags over the pump nozzles.
  3. water for livestock!
  4. move your cars away from trees! Tall Georgia Pines are like dominoes.
  5. Have rations for at least 4-5 days. We live rural, all exits of our area had collapsed trees and power poles blocking us in. You might be trapped like we were.
  6. Cell Towers go down. Find a landline telephone that doesn't need power. Cordless landlines need power to operate the base. A retro style "plug in & spiral cord" phone is priceless during a disaster. MOST phone utilities are under ground these days. Service is more reliable than cellular.
  7. Propane or charcoal grill ready to go. Flash lights/candles, batter powered weather radio.
Just please take care! Watch out for those PINE TREES!

Category 4 and growing.. my God. Panama City and Tallahassee, God be with them. They are predicting Cat 1 once it hits Georgia.. that's great news. South Carolina doesn't need anymore rain!!! Cross your fingers on that as well. My fingers are cramping!

This Giffy is from this morning. It is booking like a steam train. At least it won't stall over the coastline like the last one. Gotta remain positive. See the bright side of every endeavor.
There is an out spoken sheriff ranting on our local news how their local bars and restaurants held Hurricane Parties late last night. Saying how he will be calling them out once the storm passes. They kept people from evacuating by getting them drunk and letting a ton of folks put their guard down, and ignore evacuations. He's pee-ed off. There is no 911 to call when the storm hits. You are on your own.
Unfortunately, there are a bunch of citizens riding this one out, for a coast line community. It may get ugly. Pray for them. Please.

I don't blame that sheriff for being t'd off. Seems very irresponsible to me, getting people drunk and then they don't or can't leave.

When I lived in Key West, I knew several people that lived year-round on their boats. They never left their boats during storms, they'd just ride them out best they could. That used to scare me just listening to their stories!

:goodpost:EXCELLENT post!!! :bow

You, Big Mama & all your animals are in my prayers. :hugs:fl:hugs

PS.How does the prego sow look? Is she gonna have babies during the storm or do you think she can hold out? :fl:fl:fl

Some of those rocks on top don't look especially stable...did you go all the way to the top?
Yes,,,,, walked around the top. These rocks are quite stable. The one on left side is about 5 feet high. Weighs probably about 30,000 lbs. :idunno My estimate compared to rocks being hauled on semi trucks. Trucks only carry one that size on deck due to weight limits.
Those formations have been there for 10,000 years since the last ICE AGE.
I have many pictures from there, but many of them are from pre-digital.
Digital photos were around, but cameras were pricey, and I was
ole-skool with my film cameras.
I could find some and post them,,,,,,,, but would have to photoshop at least a Cup o Joe on top,,, :gig
