Stupid city girl question; If you keep milking them, do they continue to produce milk forever, or do you need to breed them now & then to keep them going?

Not stupid at all! You generally breed once a year, but i have heard of really well fed does milking for up to 2 years. Not the norm, though.

Last night we had grilled cheese on sourdough, with pepper jack, mushroom, tomato, onion & jalapenos. (canned) tomato soup & homemade pickles on the side. No pix, but it was REALLY yummy!

We had spaghetti with my meatballs saved in the freezer from when i made meatloaf. And garlic toast.

Hey all you crock pot enthusiasts. I make apple butter in the crock pot. I wish I could do all my jams that way.

Get some milk goats and make your own! Plus you can have milk and cheese!

I had goats milk once as a kid. I didn't like it. Perhaps I'd like it now.
What I'd like is a milk cow.

I'm just messing with ya! I was raised on margarine. I actually never even had real butter till late into my adulthood. Its nice that they can make it non hydrogenated now (I hear its very soft.)

I had goat milk in the fridge one time i was saving to feed to baby goats when my parents were visiting. I wrote all over the jug Do Not Drink Goat Milk!
Mom said it was great. poor baby goats!
