That looks good!

A bit of caramel sauce or hot fudge to top it off?

I have a very good corn bread recipe. I think I posted it on here before.

I either grind popcorn for corn meal or use cornmeal from the store. I have an air tight storage container for it

I don't remember seeing it. Ground popcorn sounds soooo cool!:thumbsup I rarely have cornmeal in the house, but I always have popcorn kernels.

Orville Redenbacher popcorn is very good ground! I use the kitchenaid flour mill attachment and use a coarse setting.

The recipe is:
Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

"Grandma's recipe for a sweet, moist cornbread likely to become your favorite!"

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease an 8 inch square pan.

2. Melt butter in large skillet. Remove from heat and stir in sugar. Quickly add eggs and beat until well blended. Combine buttermilk with baking soda and stir into mixture in pan. Stir in cornmeal, flour, and salt until well blended and few lumps remain. Pour batter into the prepared pan. I use an 8" square pan.

3. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Excellent! :bowThank you!!!

Norfolk was a Naval Base at that time so there was ships based there

Norfolk is still a naval base. I spent a couple days there a few years ago and happened to catch the annual regatta. Mega-enormous Navy ships! Plus every other size and type of boat you can imagine. Pretty impressive!

Years ago we saw the USS Constellation come back from deployment into San Diego harbor. Later after she was retired we were able to tour her. It was astounding how massive that ship was.

We've also toured a vintage sub. It was a German one (?) called the Scorpion (?) I think. It was disturbingly small.

Tours like that are interesting. Don't think I could ever get used to being in a sub...that would be the perfect time for an anxiety attack!
