Sold some surplus Cockerels yesterday..woot!
That's few and far this time of year. 150 eggs went bye-bye over to another county. Got our feed run done for the week early. Usually we do that on Fridays. Have a tough schedule today so did the gallivanting yesterday.
Trying to consolidate our freezers this morning. Trying to fit the contents of 5 freezers into 3. We are running the heck out of the sprinklers in the pasture because of the drought and now using the air conditioner because of the early heat wave. All those factors are going to sky rocket our power bill. 2 less freezers cranking will help.
The forecast calls for rain next week. Everything is brown and not growing. Getting sun burnt. Driest spring I can remember.
Not sure of tonight's supper. Will find some mystery dish soon enough I suppose.
Good Morning to all!

Guess who is in charge of the freezers?
You did not have these listed because they were EXTRAS.![]()
I think it happened post Hurricane. We lost power for a week and consolidated our kitchen refer w/deep freezers. Had to send a couple freezers across town to a relative's house who had their power restored. OPERATION SAVE THE MEATS. We don't inventory the kitchen stuff. East to find things in there. The big chest freezers are a blessing, and a curse for finding stuff fast anyway. They are packed. Thus clip boards and multi colored sharpie writing. That is a nice bit of food to have as extras!
I have started off with competition pellets. I will get hickory and applewood for sure.I think it happened post Hurricane. We lost power for a week and consolidated our kitchen refer w/deep freezers. Ron, what type of smoke pellets do you buy?
You know there are many flavors..
I am loving my new pellet BBQ!
I have started off with competition pellets. I will get hickory and applewood for sure.
When I change pellets, there is a cover I can remove to empty the hopper.
Thanks for the reminder! I need to go get some different pellet types!
We ran ours for 7 straight days. But it takes gas. Gas prices drive up the cost of the meats bottom line, since most of it we raised. And all the gas stations were dry as well. if you could find a station w/gas, it was a 3 hour line. People were wasting gas sitting idling with their air conditions on in line.. KRAZY AMERIKANS.. In the end, the national guard was escorting tankers coming into Tampa's port. It was nuts. We had 50 gallons of fuel prior to the storm and only maybe 10 left when the power came back on.We don't get hurricanes like you do in Florida, but occasionally do encounter power outages. (summer and winter) Some due to snow killing trees and falling on power lines. Some due to other causes. I invested in a Medium Size power generator. 4000 watt max. Have used it a couple times already. It is enough to power our refrigerator and lights in the home. Obviously not enough to power AC, but so what. Enough to run furnace in winter with no problem.
