SHOW OFF YOUR YUM! Food Photography Thread

Excellent question! That is why I need input. Would a theme be easier and less complicated or visa versa?
Obviously if we say... TACOS.. BORING! 20 pictures of tacos.. really? Theme would be nice. A broader spectrum. BUT NOT TO BROAD.. Some folks wouldn't have a chance against a seasoned pro.
It has to be a level playing field.
Maybe-

• Create a dish from Chicken or other Protein?
• Main Dish w/ 2 sides & or salad?
• Geographical Dish.. Mexican/Italian?

So many options and variables and endless possibilities. But trying to keep it simple for the average person. Not a Five Star Restaurant Dish.
Everyone makes a simple themed meal with their own personal additions and creativity for their own particular taste buds. I am sure that the same basic dish of _____ would vary from being made in California to Florida to Michigan etc. Styles and ingredients will vary from region to region.. Basically what this thread is about. Seeing what someone is making and having for dinner 3000 miles away from each other.

I like the geographical theme. Once a long time ago, I homeschooled my children and we cooked different things from around the world while studying a particular continent.
My only problem is a lot of times my food is good, but presentation sucks. Lol

Think of it like a decoration skill.. what your eyes sees makes you want to eat it.. lol.
I love it when we go to McDonalds and the menu photographs are BEAUTIFUL! Your eyes trick you. "I'll take number 4 please".. Then when you get your food, it looks like number two.
Think of it like you are selling the dish. The beauty of photography in the contest is that you don't really have to sell the dish to a judge's taste buds.. since the eyes will be doing the judging.
I saw an interesting show yrs ago how the photographers made those pics that make you buy the food and products. One trick was that when they take a photo of BREAKFAST CEREAL, they use little drops of ELMERS GLUE to make the little beads of milk ion top of the cereal. GROSS!

I saw an interesting show yrs ago how the photographers made those pics that make you buy the food and products. One trick was that when they take a photo of BREAKFAST CEREAL, they use little drops of ELMERS GLUE to make the little beads of milk ion top of the cereal. GROSS!

I glad I remembered that tidbit. It would have to have some rules. Must be edible! Might have to be a party pooper and disqualify FAKE food. Especially after I just found this on YouTube.

You kinda have to be able to eat it.. lol So I suggest try for looks and taste..

Yesterday I made lasagna only we didn’t have lasagna noodles and I didn’t realize until I was already in the middle of everything. So, I made it with spaghetti noodles. Just as delish. But, forgot pics! I’m making chicken and broccoli tonight. Boring, but I will take a pic. Ha.

Brilliant!!! I need to remember that.

I made ham hocks and beans, but my little helper didn't get the top on the salt shaker and I forgot to check. So bummed, I'd been craving it since September! I'll make more Sunday I think.

I love that the contest would have 20-30 to do it. I get so distracted & can loose 20-30 days in the blink of an eye. (sadly I'm not kidding.)
