Sick chicken

It will do no harm at all to pop a calcium tablet into her beak. This will expedite any stuck egg or collapsed egg to be expelled. Be sure she has plenty of water to drink.

Coccidiosis doesn't always cause blood in the stools. It also won't hurt to give your flock a round of Corid (amprolium) just in case they have an over abundance of coccidia in their intestines.

Both of these treatments are safe even if you aren't certain of the diagnosis.

Would oyster shells be good for this? Or do you recommend an specific tablet? I also have corid so I will give her that today. Thank you for helping me!

If you can get calcium citrate +D, those tend to be better absorbed and work the best. The oyster shell should be available all the time so they can take what they need. Even when it's available some birds can become deficient enough to have issues, sometimes a factor of genetics or dietary reasons (some greens for example can inhibit calcium absorption). The tablets will help get it up quickly and help contractions if she's having trouble passing an egg.

I have just stumbled across this thread…
Did your chicken get better?
I have a similar problem with my chicken.
She has mites/lice. I think it must be lice and not mites as I cleaned the coop out as soon as I noticed her and I didn’t find even 1 mite in the whole house!
I have been treating her with ivomectin weekly for the last 2 weeks. She is moulting, so not laying eggs at the moment. She has been eating and drinking and I have just noticed on my way to work that she is puffed up and her comb is more pale than it has been. I will check her crop when I get home, it can look big even when she’s 100% fine as she had an impacted crop a few years ago.
Any help would be much appreciated!!
