Sick hen maybe coccidosis? Impacted crop??

Should you lose her and you need to find out what ailed her, be prepared to send her to one of your poultry diagnostic labs. Call them and they may send you a FedEx label.

I have stocked up on Corid, syringes and catheters (arriving tomorrow). I have the de-wormer now and Pedialyte. What other things would you suggest that I have on hand?

This is the 3rd day of no food, daily treatments of Pedialyte (approx 90 to 100 cc per day). She seems more alert but not moving around. I post pics of her elimination and herself. As an RN, I know that skinny poops can indicate an intestinal blockage. But then on the other hand, she has had almost no food in 6 days. In the poo pic, there is a lot of clear liquid soaked into the mat. The stool is greenish.
Where do I go from here? Thank you.

Can you get some Kaytee Exact baby bird food or purée some crumbles? When I purée, I start by soaking in hot water, wait 30-60 minutes, then use a stick blender.

Is there any food still in her crop?

There are a couple of things you could try, but both are a little risky. You could try tubing some mineral oil to see if that gets stuff moving, and/or you could try giving her some Epsom salts orally. The risk with the mineral oil is that she could aspirate some, and that would almost certainly be fatal. The Epsom salts are a laxative and draw moisture from the body into the intestines. This can upset the electrolyte balance if they are not properly hydrated.

Thanks. There is nothing in her crop. I check it each time before I hydrate. I will purée some of the crumbles.
Are you thinking the mineral oil may unblock a possible obstruction in her intestines?
The folks I ordered the tubing from now informed me it would be 3 weeks. Ugh! So tomorrow I will go to Gold's medical supply. So far, I have been doing well with the syringe. Mostly I put a few drops under her tongue and she laps it up. Time consuming but less irritating to her throat. I'm not going to try Epsom salts because she has been so dehydrated. I will be back in touch.
