I will try when i have another person to help. Camera work and holding a chicken is not a one man job. I added a few more pictures. Out of nowhere the comb got noticable and red this week. It good be the wrong age. This one was always sick around 4 weeks old. So maybe behind?Looks female to me. At 12 weeks you should be able to see saddle feathers coming in, which can be a better indicator of gender. Can you get a close-up of the saddle area? Can be difficult with light colored birds. Can help to put a piece of colored paper underneath the feathers so they stand out more.
So pullets can have such red combs before they lay eggs?I think pullet.
The majority of my flock is pea comb and all pale, so these reds really stand out. That and my leghornsI don't think it's that bright. My cockerel is not even 12 weeks and it's obvious he's a cockerel.
I would say 1 year is considered fully mature.20 weeks is fully mature?
