Sign of the times ...and How did they know?

We're all gonna see our old stuff again someday on a 'hoarders' episode.

I walk around the neighborhood a lot and I just know I'm gonna see my old junk on someone's lawn.

but hey, I agree, it's much easier than taking to the dump.

I dont want to see any of the junk I put out on the curb ever again. It's weird though...we live on a culdisac several streets away from a major road. well next week I am dragging out a couple of old rocking type chairs (fabric ripped by cats) and a bar fridge that stopped cooling. Have this place cleaned up and sold in no time. Got tons of nice books...maybe I should make a list and post them up here.

On another forum I frequent a guy saw a freezer on the side of the road... duct taped.
It was his exact freezer and he needed some parts for it so he thought "why not?"
Upon opening it there was a rotting hog inside

The guy dumped the hog and took the freezer home!
...not only did he take it home to get a few parts, one of the parts he used was THE LID!

We put our used crap on the curb outside our home. We even put a name to the "usuals" who come to "sort and keep". I put a old lawn mower with a broken base and some sc toothless wonder asked if it was for free.I said it is and away he went.he was happy as a clam.

then theres a guy with a red truck looking for machine parts, and an older black guy with an orange truck looking for scrap metal to get extra money that his ss cant cover.

Whatever doesnt sell on craigslist, goes on freecycle.Whatever doesnt get picked up on freecycle goes to "curbcycle".

Im like them too.I see something someone put on their curb, and if I can use it,Ill take it.

My golden rules:

1. If its free, its fer me
2. one mans trash is anothers treasure
3 never know what you can get until you ask

that is how i got my deep freezer. someone threw it out in the lawn. said it stinks but works. I took it home, a little bleach and elbow grease later and it no longer smells, and works great. woo whoo

When we lived in Germany they had different rules over there. Tax time comes around, and since you're taxed on belongings... you get 1 day a year to throw things away... TVs, furniture, anything. The crowds of scavengers was insane! Whole families sitting on couches waiting on the guy with the trailer to come get it, claims staked all over on large items... leaving children with that table, each kid on a matching chair. Traffic... can't get through town on that day. It's like if you and all your neighbors took all your yardsale stuff and threw it curbside on the same day for a free for all.
