Silkie breeding, genetics & showing

i'm pretty sure he is a splash, came from a spalsh egg...maybe just not a very good splash? messy color or something? but I do love him...pics aren't very good but he is very 'round'?

Is there any reason to suspect he is carrying the mottling gene? He just looks like a poor quality blue to me. If both parents were splash, he likely is genetically splash (carrying two copies of the Bl gene) but he is just expressing it oddly.

The judges may actually like him, apparently the judge I met was saying they are supposed to be dark.

i would love see his babies
lol...yes i would also but my splash girl has just hatched out some other eggs for me tonight...so will have to wait...still haven't seen the chicks under her but I can hear them...

thanks but he is not blue...poor quality or not...
I had one with a similar color at 6 months. By 10 months it was blue. I crossed him with a blue hen, got dozens of nice babies and none had his odd original coloring.
he is almost a year old now...when he hatched I thought he was an awesome paint chick...wait I do have some baby pics of him...he was always heavily marked....started out white with dark spots very much like a paint...
