The best time to get a good look at future feathering is the day after hatch. For some reason chicks pick off their foot feathers or their neighbors feathers when they are young. If you look real close you can usually see where a feather used to be. Yes, I do cull for zero, one or two feathers on middle toe. They go in the $5 bin for craigslist.
