The comb looked the most broad from the pictures. Sometimes the fluff gets in the way so it could be the others had combs just as broad but from pictures alone Indie looked the most male to me from early on. I do get girls with broad combs sometimes but not nearly as often as with the males.
Wow, that's super helpful! I'll remember this when selecting chicks to keep in the future. Thanks!

I was looking forward on the new pictures!
For me personally now they are in a stage where I find it particularly difficult to evaluate.
...but I think I have to change my guess about Justice/Judy - I said male but I think now female.
Indy looks to me kind of younger - still more like a baby, the others already more like teenagers.
They are all gorgeous :love
Glad you changed your vote!
Indie has super scarce crest feathers, and it makes her look like she is still in the teen stage. Not very cute. And when she really was a teenager she was the ugliest. Even if she is a girl, I won't be keeping her. She's just here for this project and my own enjoyment!

Yeah Indie definitely has not much crest fluff (yet) - I think she has a very sweet expression and the proportions of her sweet little face remind me somehow of a guinea fowl 😊
Really looking forward seeing the further development of all these cuties! 🥰

So we're still a week behind (due to planting season!) and I guess it's going to stay that way. Here are last week's pictures:

Still thinking girl for her.

Libby

Liberty's comb is still growing.

Indie

Still guessing boy. She is also a wannabe explorer, I guess she really wants her "independance" out of the cage!
Sorry, that was a pretty bad joke. But I couldn't let it pass by!

Judy

Judy is my definite girl in crest, comb, and behavior!

I think your right about gender so far. The shape of the combs to me say Indie and Libby are the potential boys. I’m not an expert and am mostly going off the “U” vs “V” shape.
I have never heard this before. It sounds like it would be interesting to experiment with! Are the boys supposed to have "U"s?

Yes. The boys have a wider U and the girls have a V shape. I think it’s really noticeable when they hit 8 or so weeks.
This is Floof

And this is Poof

They both turned out to be a girls and the V in their combs is obvious. Now that I know to look for it anyway.

It’s a little harder to tell with all his fluff but his comb is wider. And he is a boy.

Then there’s Beakers

I thought for sure she was a boy. She has a wider comb but no development. She is a girl though and her cross beak might have played a role in her development. I’m not sure.

They’re all 9 weeks in these photos and looking back I can see a difference between the boys and girls. On some it’s a little harder, like with Beakers. I’m hoping with the 7 I have now I can see the difference in males and females this way as well.
