Make sure your vents are wide open, they need max oxygen at this stage. Oh and lay down something non skid under the eggs too to prevent splay legs, also helps slow the eggs from rolling around too much.

And yes the eggs will get knocked about as chicks hatch. It looks violent from our point of view, :D but it's normal. Just let the eggies and chicks do their thing.

Ahh....secret crower.... love those!
Maybe when I figure out who it is I should rename them Secret 🤣

I keep imagining how much more aggressive the incubation time is under a hen. They aren't exactly gentle, they step on the eggs, clunk them together, roll them around and in my hens case, peck at them.

I've had the vent fully open the whole time, when I left this morning the humidity was over 70% I'm not sure how to get a good balance, I think if I add less water to decrease the surface area in the tray, it will be dried out before I get back home from work. I'll see what it is tonight. Maybe I will HAVE to come down with something just to watch the humidity 🤣

Oooh, Secret is a perfect name and only you will get it! Do it!

65% is perfect and 70% humidity is ok. Don't let it get below 60 or over 70. Too high and they can drown in the eggs. Lockdown time is pretty critical. I think your forehead feels a bit warm, are you coming down with something?

Well if you can tell from where you are that I have a fever, it must be REALLY bad and I definitely need to go home!

If the humidity goes over 70%, how do I lower it without rising the tray going too dry while I'm at work?

Yes, you are sick and need to stay home from work. :lau

Honestly I have never had the issue of too much humidity in my arid climate so on a professional level, I am not sure how to PROPERLY fix it. Does the incubator have any instructions for lowering humidity? However opening the lid once a day and wiping off the windows would definitely help and if the humidity is staying high, it probably won't be a problem even during pipping. What is the highest you have seen so far?

I just came home and the incubator says 75, the Accurite says 80% 😬

Ok, I just wicked as much water as I could out of tray A, the one that is used during the first 18 days. Maybe if that tray is dry and only a partial fill on B will work. I'll keep an eye on it through the evening.

Definitely experiment now, you have time. Less water means lower humidity, I think you are on to something with one dry tray and the other partially filled.

I just added an unused dry sponge, maybe it will absorb some of the moisture. But even with one try, I'm not seeing it drop much. I might have to continue filling A with water and just a splash in tray B.

I wish I had some helpful ideas to lower it, but I think the dry sponge is a good idea. Maybe a clean sock?
