Holding at 75% for now. I'll see what it is in the morning.Well it is coming down!!!![]()
Beautiful! ❤ I couldn't ID sex a Silkie if a million dollars was at stake.Side string again on Cappy from the Snow Packstill likely a cockerel, but... maybe not? 14 weeks old tomorrow. Thickened over the beak but no comb growth like the other two and no wattles. No streamers yet either and the other two definitely have them, and the tail isn't as grown out. So maybe Cappy should be named Mystery (if it's a cockerel it could become Mr. E, lol) to be with Secret
I'll post Cappy in my SLW "what gender are these" thread too, it also got sidelined to Silkies somehow, imagine that...
All your birds are just gorgeous, Einio is so cute with her dent! Here's Einio with her head dent, and Nu and Heavy the other two silkie cockerels. They are all sparring and running around in the mornings, it's entertaining to watch![]()
57% this morning, I added water only to tray A and it's up to 66%, and I took the sponge out.
I was thinking they'd be able to hear me! I've had a head cold for the last week so I sound weird, they're going to get used to this awful voice and not know me when I'm betterBeautiful! ❤ I couldn't ID sex a Silkie if a million dollars was at stake.Beautiful bird!

Sounds like everything is right on track! At lockdown I like to talk the eggs, they can hear you and some will peep in the eggs before hatch!
Oh gosh, so sorry you are sick!I was thinking they'd be able to hear me! I've had a head cold for the last week so I sound weird, they're going to get used to this awful voice and not know me when I'm better
From what I've seen on BYC, the show quality silkies are even harder to tell genders on than the hatchery stock, mine were only a few weeks old when the pullet really got a different head poof than the other three. But now the one really has me guessing!
I'm so eggcited to see what colors these little chicks are! The Pen 1 eggs should all be blue, black, or splash, but the 2 Pen 2 eggs could be anything! Well, anything that can come from a chocolate crossed with splash and blue hens.![]()
I worked "sick" all week last week, no fever, so no reason to stay home. My dad was here visiting of course I'm around my husband a lot, neither of them got sick, so for all I know it's really bad allergies. But, I am feeling better this week thankfully, even if I don't sound better.Oh gosh, so sorry you are sick!See, you DO need to call in sick, the boss will believe you!!

Over time after enough hatches you may definitely be able to spot the roos early on by certain patterns or poofs, a talent that will be all yours!
Getting different colors of offspring is so much fun with breeding. Unfortunately I know zilch about what to cross with what to get specific colors.Lots of members in the Genetics forum know the scoop on all that. I just love the pretty colors and birds.

Genetics is a pretty fascinating subject, it probably isn't as difficult as it sounds. But for now I like the "hatch and see" method too.I worked "sick" all week last week, no fever, so no reason to stay home. I think I could totally nerd out on genetics if I put the time into itI have too many untouched projects and hobbies to pick up another fascination though. So for now I'll just be playing color genetics "hatch and see" games.
