Wow, just WOW!! All your birds are gorgeous! The babies are growing SO fast! They look like quality stock, although I know nothing about Silkies. Love the floofy heads and furry feet!!! Fizz sure looks regal up there. ❤ And I gotta say, Foxxy looks just like a fox!!! You pegged that name. Everybody looks fabulous, thanks for sharing, I got my big grin on now!!

Love these!!! These chicks really look the part of Vikings!! Definitely use Viking names, these guys are Warriors!!! I saw the one you did in the Rooting for Eggs thread too. SO fun these are!!

It's crazy already at work, several equipment breakdowns, two people called out on my crew, so short staffed and a slew of problems, so, quick Viking break

They're so serious looking, but they are so cute it's hard to believe they are vicious they are such deceptive little floofies. I know how hard they can bite

I did this one tonight, I'm finding that these silly doodles really bring me joy I'm positive I saw this chick move its crest, it was normal and then it just raised it up into this huge poof


And JetPack, in the oven cooking:

We had a storm come through last night, it just poured down rain and the wind was blowing sideways. It blew out a screen so I fixed that this morning and the horse's grain bucket was half full of water, it really dumped on us. We really needed it though. In case they needed the heat lamp last night I had turned it on, left it on this morning since everything was wet and nasty and I didn't want them to get chilled. After work it was plenty warm outside, but JetPack apparently needed a little sauna time.

Kinda hard to see, but there's a little shadow for how full the bucket is.



The wind ripped up the shelter we put up as a temporary one for the horse almost 2 years ago. It was starting to rip over the last week, but this totally took it out, time to buy a replacement cover!


And, all the moisture left a thick fog this morning.

Good morning! I just love the Vilking attire you are giving these guys, Silkies seem to fit right into the motif, I'm not sure standard chicks would fill the Viking shoes! Cute!

Love your photos!! Awww....JetPack looks nice and toasty, I'm sure the heat lamp was appreciated in the damp cold air. That's a lot of water in that bucket! Glad you are getting much needed rain, we are too and as much as I don't like rain and mud, we need it!

Not sure who did this, maybe Base? Maybe a SLW? It's a really pale egg, so maybe Base... silly chickens! I had a favorite EE pullet sho would always fly way up to a shelf and lay her egg there, I had to put a game cam in to figure out who was doing it. Her name was Spazzy, she fit that name to a T from about a week old. She unfortunately passed at just shy of a year old, no clue why, she was fine the one day and gone when I got home from work the next day.

I'm really looking forward to the weekend! I don't think we have any plans, which will be perfect tomorrow night we're going to a benefit after work for our friend, still in the hospital... then hopefully a lot of chicken hang out time Saturday, I do need to clean coops too.

Not a Viking silkie, but this came from my friend telling me I needed a cape to become "big and brave" and therefore be intimidating


I also made some mayak eggs tonight, if you have never tried them, I highly recommend them! There's many variations online if you look for recipes, but it's basically hard boiled eggs brined in soy sauce, water (about a 2:1) some chili pepper flakes, as many or few as you'd like. Too watery, add more soy sauce, too salty, add more water. Throw in the eggs, then try to not eat them for an hour or more. I typically dive in after about 15 minutes, but I've kept them a week or two, they just get more and more salty it was a great way to use up all the little pullet eggs.
