I had a hen lay hers on a shelf a couple of times. Luckily they never rolled off!My chickens tend to like laying their eggs in chairs. Problem is you don’t usually see the eggs til you sit down.

So I've added a crate for the over flow and the ladies immediately checked it out and Maple hopped right in.

The way time files, it will be spring before we know it!Oh boy, i’m already thinking about spring egg hatching. It’s only fall![]()
I've lost 2, I think 1 to a Bald Eagle and 1 to a hawk, so they don't get to free range much anymore, only when we are here and outside. We have seen lots of hawks and vultures here recently. Gotta keep a close eye on my chickens.
Yes, they are so beautiful and regal! We rarely see them, but we saw one 2 weeks ago and now all of them today. Previously we've seen one maybe once or twice a year.Aww.... they do look adorable even during rush hour.Anything works as an extra nest box, I've used old laundry baskets, cardboard boxes, even an old plastic dog carrier.
Very cute photos! ❤
Oh I love seeing Bald Eagles!! And wow, you got to see 4! We will see them in the winter usually, especially if it's a harsh winter and they flee to lower elevations out of the mountains. Once in a while they will soar overhead and on rare occasions if they are hungry enough, they will eat fresh road kill. Beautiful birds, aren't they?! Thanks for sharing!![]()

That's hilarious! Well, I'm sure it's not funny if they break all over...My chickens tend to like laying their eggs in chairs. Problem is you don’t usually see the eggs til you sit down.
Me too! My favorite EE was named Spazzy and she laid a tan egg on the only shelf in the coop. Maybe 5ft off the ground, I have no idea how she'd make it up there. She would lay it perfectly balanced right on the edge evert day.I had a hen lay hers on a shelf a couple of times. Luckily they never rolled off!![]()
