...now after examining the pictures a second time I think the expression on that sweet little face is kind of 'girlish' (and the little single comb doesn't mean it MUST be male, females can have it, too)...well it is a very pretty and cute Silkie!

What does a pea comb tell me? All I ever heard was watching for a U or V. I see some V in there, but it's not super-pronounced.

The comb is exceptionally large at this age, which is what is pointing towards cockerel. A pullet’s pea comb should be smaller. The V and U probably refers to the crest.

Yeah, the fact I could see the rows makes me think cockerel, as all my pea combed ladies had little or no texture to their comb at this age...

The V and U refers to the shape of the walnut comb when you look at it straight on when Silkies are younger. A pullet will have what looks like an upside down 'V', whereas cockerels should have an upside down 'U'. I haven't had a huge amount of luck with this method but then again I've mainly had non-standard Silkies before now.

Scratch that, just saw the multiple rows. What on earth, totally looks like single at a glance. I’ll still go with girl to rock the boat but...not feeling as solid on that.
