Silkie Splash Ameraucanas

Jubaby, thanks so much for updating us on this project! I am glad to keep up on how this progresses.

And I can't remember - - did both of the birds indeed come from the same clutch, or were they different hatches? Some folks will recall incidents of spontaneous silkie feathering, but as mentioned previously if there were two from the same clutch there may be a silkie ancestor back there. ?

Here's one Feathersite link that mentions spontaneous silkie feathering in cochins - - it's at the very bottom, the red cochins:

Jubaby, hope you are feeling better soon! Please continue to keep us posted.

Here are some new photos of the baby chicks:

And yes, both the hen and the rooster came from the same clutch. I ordered one dozen eggs from a breeder and both of these chickens hatched at the same time.

Going to take some pictures this afternoon or tomorrow.

All five chick are doing well. Really fluffy! I'm not sure, but I think I may have 3 cockrels, 2 pullets. I'm going to post the pictures to the gender forum to see what everyone else thinks.

Check back later.
