Silkies claws are SO sharp, best way to trim?

Two of my 7 month old silkies have these super super sharp claws that just shred me to bits when they perch on me. Should I file them down? im a bit scared to actually cut them because I can’t see the actual blood vessel just because their nails are black

Can they dig in soil?

I usually use dog nail clippers, but since their nails are black it may be better to file them down instead.

Yes, I don’t have this problem with any of my other chickens. They’re all free ranged all day so im really confused why only my silkies nails are crazy sharp

Are they extra long, or just pointy? If they're not too long, I'd be hesitant to cut or file them more, because it might make it hard for them to scratch around.

You can file down the tips or "tip" them with dog nail trimmers (just cut off the very point of it, the quick shouldn't be close to that).
