They are adorable!😍😍😍
How is the little one doing with the foot issue?😊
They are! So tiny and whiny 😁

Baby 3 is still a bit touch and go. She has been drinking on her own and eating and sort of pooping (looks like she’s straining a bit). Her little foot is still giving her issues, so it’s been retaped. She tries to be part of the group though. She’s had some Nutridrench and egg yolk and a tiny bi of chick starter. She’s my little baby! 😍😍

Likely most chicks will have beards, possibly some without! Colorwise will be difficult to know. I assume Chickaletta is a recessive white? In that case she could be hiding anything underneath genetically. What color chicks has she had before? Good bet you will get lovely colors with Biscuit!🥰
Last 2 years she's hasn't had fertile eggs due to not accepting Biscuit and previous Rooster went infertile for some reason but when Rooster and Chickaletta did get together I did get white but also some different colours - although I wasn't good at keeping track at whose eggs were who's! Chicks were coming out everywhere 😂 Now I'm more organised!

Just got caught up with the thread, it was a busy last few days here! I'm loving everyone's little ones (both silkie and non)! ❤️

I'm so excited to have some new additions to add to the flock here. A friend and I exchanged some grow outs. She's helping me get some colors I was hoping for to help out with different color projects. I'll have to try to get some pictures soon of some of the new little ones. :)

I should have some new babies hatching here soon as well. Crossing my fingers for some splash (hopefully with some red leakage to work towards splash calico) but with the coupling I picked they could throw all sorts of things. It'll be fun being surprised anyway.

I got some new pictures of the mille satin babies earlier today as well. They are 4 weeks old now. I talked to the breeder and it sounds like they will be splits (not homozygous for mottling but carrying it) so I won't get or get to show anyone full patterned mille babies yet. If I get some of each sex I should be able to breed them together to get around 25% that should be full patterned though. :fl

The naked necks on 3 of the 4 maybe weren't so obvious before but they sure are now! 😂

:wee
Already stared looking 😂
Anyway I could tell If they were cockrels or pullets? I know the add says they are too young to guarantee sex but maybe I could try?

At 12 weeks there may be some pretty good hints at sex anyway. If you are going to pick some up and are hoping to pick out pullets going for ones with rounder crests and little to no comb development will help your odds.

Silkie juvaniles develop at different rates and certain lines may be quicker or slower but here is a quick reference to show kind of what to look for. These particular babies were quick to develop and I could sex most of this hatch fairly accurately by 10-12 weeks.

Here is an obvious female she was 10 weeks old at the time (nice rounded crest, small comb)

And this one is a male at 10 weeks (more swept back crest and the beginning of "streamers", larger comb)

And here is a male at 11 weeks that has obvious streamers. Sometimes the girls can have the swept back crests too but they very rarely have the obvious streamers (decently longer crest feathers sticking out of the back of the crest).

Just two chicks. The one with the pip hatched early this morning. I'm going to move it to the brooder soon and when I do, I'll candle the eggs.

Oh I'm so glad the other is out so the first baby has company at least! I hope the others are just a bit behind and you'll have some more babies coming soon. :fl

Haha I know! I can’t wait for the beards! I had to use every fiber of my willpower to leave baby salmon faverolles at the feed store today. They were SO fat and their cheeks were so floofy!! 😩
Omg i was at the feed store yesterday.. told myself no peeking at any chicks, then made a beeline to the chicks! They had sexed Easter eggers... but.. were sold out of bantams! Thankfully!! Just got necessities 🤯 oh and a blueberry plant (not a necessity).

It was so hard! I’m still thinking about them! 🤪 I’m out of room though! Sexed EEs is awesome! Bummer you didn’t get in on the bantams! 😩
