We often get power outages. They can last for a couple days. I think the longest was 4 days.

We got a generator several years ago. It's a game changer. We don't run it all the time; a few hours here and there to keep the water hot and the fridge and freezer contents safe. We're looking into getting a whole house gennie at some point.
