Your birds are beautiful! This is the first Leghorn I’ve ever had. Her name is Chevron. She has yet to lay so we are pretty excited!

Hi all and happy Monday! Ive been reading through this thread...very helpful. One of my girls, “Snow White”, is a 16 week old White leghorn and I LOVE her!!! Sweetest little thing. If someone would be kind enough to weigh in....I would appreciate it.

I am first timer with chickens and am learning a lot! I have 16 week olds and based on the suggestion of others, I got 5 different breeds which makes things challenging since they are all so different. That being said, Snow appears to be the littlest of the group; Pearl Star Leghorn, Americana, Olive Egger, and Plymouth Blue Rock.

My question...are they supposed to be more of a petite breed? In comparison to the others, even her head is tiny. She is spunky, and has no health issues as I can see, but she is built so dainty that I cant help but ask if thats normal. Thanks for the input.

Leghorns are smaller birds. I'll see if I can find a picture of my Daisy, the greatest hen ever, with Patsy a copper Maran so you can see the size difference.

Daisy is the white leghorn on the left. Patsy the Copper Maran is all the way on the right. Patsy was a little smaller than an Orpington. I'm not sure what kind of hen Lilly in the middle is but she weighs in around 5 lbs. My Easter Egger, for comparison is around 6 lbs.

Leghorns are smaller than almost all but bantams. They are the best chickens. Enjoy.

Snow White is slender just like yours!!! Thanks for sharing your photo:) puts my heart at ease. Since this is my first batch, I really have no baseline of comparison. Thanks for your help. I cant wait until she begins to lay. Her comb is beginning to come in and is turning more red along with her waddles starting to come in too. So much fun to watch the girls grow up.

Well I have found they all differ. my new flock https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/leghorns-have-been-the-easiest-chickens.1254494/page-28 is 4 hens and a rooster and they are 11 weeks old. There is one thats bigger than the other 3 and one that is the smallest. I do feel sometimes the pecking order may have something to do with it, the smallest often eats last. The leghorns are not heave hens, they are lean. The rooster though is the same age and much bigger. So, yes, I think it is normal.
