Pics
Well, I did not get any photos today, First I started making lasagna, the sauce took a while to make, garlic; onion; fresh rosemary, oregano and mushrooms sautéed, red wine, tomato paste, tomato sauce..👩‍🍳... So` I finished that and put it in the oven at 12:30. Then out to the garden 🐭
I have these wood boxes that I plant stuff in and this year I made them Pea boxes. I made trellises with chicken wire and then caged the whole area so the dogs wont eat the garden dirt and the peas. WELL! the peas came up and varmint found them and :barnie:rantate all the pea plants in the box closest to the green house- All I have is bird netting so I wrapped the pea boxes with it and prayed it would keep It out, NOT!

It was able to get to a few more in the other boxes AND ate stuff I started in the greenhouse- So I started to do a better job investigating as to just what was I dealing with here. I noticed a few small holes in the dirt of the box bed in the green house.....🧐🤔

And here is what I found out-
Voles (think "V" for vegetarian) attack plant roots and parts. Moles (think "M" for meat or carnivorous) attack grub worms and earthworms. You know a vole has eaten your plant when there's no root system to support the plant and it topples over if you merely touch it.
And this was a good read - https://tendingmygarden.com/voles-moles-mice-shrews-how-to-control-them-in-the-garden/

I have a Vole villain--I did set a trap, I hope I can get rid of this thing. I will have to replant quite a bit tomorrow.

So the only chicken pics for today is after they all went to bed (roost). I closed the windows but left the door open. The chickens dont like the window that is behind / above the roost left open, to much of a cold breeze.
The apricot tree buds bloomed yesterday,

I made the full switch from Purina organic layer to the Scratch and Peck Layer Pellets. The flock seams to like it just fine. The morning poop under the roost looks good, seams no one has the runs, which is a good thing. Since it is April 5th I guess I need a new pick for the April folder.

I am very glad it has gone so well. They are a fine looking group! Although I am used to bigger combs.....
