It is wonderful to have you back. I am very sorry to hear about Bob as I am sure you could have guessed but it sounds like he earned his fate. I am always amazed at what you get done in a day. Congrats on the grand baby!

I am raising new chicks so I can separate my flock. Here they are the day I got them...

Good Morning Porches,
It has been a very busy 2 months. Most of the garden is done for the season. I still have lettuce, beets, kale, and parsley in the garden bed. I did move some to the green house last week for a winter garden.
All of the 15 hens are doing great. The 21 week old brown leghorns, red LH, & 2 white orpingtons have not laid their first egg yet. My husband did @BY Bob lower the roosts for me last week. The little red LG's couldn't get up on the roost without the stump to use as a step up. So due to winter coming and the need for floor space in the coop, down the roost went. I am sorry to report the Rooster Bob got more aggressive. I think he was in protection over drive. He just would not stop attacking us, so RIP Lord Grantham.

We had a WONDERFUL hard down pour yesterday, a very much needed rain. the PNW is dangerously dry.

We have another grandbaby due in late February, which will make 10 for us.
It is 52 out on the porch this morning. We are due for on / off rain today.
I am still drinking decaf coffee and tea. My heart Doc. said keep drinking lots of water 72oz minimum.
Have a wonderful morning,

So good to have you back! How would I enjoy my mug of coffee if not sitting on your porch? :wee

OH BOB they are so cute, I just bet you are having a blast with them!

Good morning and welcome back! So glad to see you:). Wow you have been busy and what wonderful news on a new grand baby! Sorry about your rooster.

I’m brewing a pot of tea as we speak, Blue Mango. I hope everyone enjoyed the remainder of summer and the cooler temps of fall for this us in the northern hemisphere. I got my first little egg from my littles that I got in May and my other girls are starting to molt. This will be my first experience with molting.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

I have 2 hens out of 3 that are molting. One hen doesn't make enough eggs make, so I have to buy some. Oh well. They deserve a break!

One of my pullets has dark pink, but very small wattles and comb. I'm hoping she starts laying for me soon, and lays through the winter...? They are 16 weeks old as of Saturday.

The other two pullets still have dark grey/pale pink combs. I probably won't see eggs from them till after the Solstice, I'd guess.
