Snake Trap,Requested Post,Not 4 faint hearted

Wow! I just found a snale in my run today. It was a garter snake, I know why I don't have as many mice in the garage as I thought I might! I think it was passing thru and got cornered by the girls. I heard them making alot of noise, and my rooster crowing. I don't have nest boxes or eggs yet. I will have to keep this in mind... Thanks!

Oh my goodness!!! I think I would faint it I walked out and saw something like that!! I will have to show DH this as we have had a few rattlesnakes close to our property this year. YUCK!!

I wish something like this would work for DOGS!!! We have had a heck of a time with neighbor dogs this year.

I found out this very same trap by accident. My father-in-law had a Great Blue Heron eating his koi fish, so he bought that black plastic bird netting and covered the pond with it. The first time we noticed it worked, there was a 6' Black Rat snake tangled in it. The father-in-law unsure of the snake was simply going to wait for the snake to die, but when I noticed ants were eating it alive I couldn't leave it. Hubby grabbed it's head, untangled it and we turned it loose into the woods. Snake repayed us later that summer by cleaning out our rat problem. It was spotted in our barn every now and then, haven't seen it this year.

Well, fall came and went and the father-in-law took the netting off his pond and cast if off to the side. Hubby and I were running a fence and I went to move this pile of bird mesh, and there were hundreds of snake vertibrae, probably 3-5 snakes had gotten caught in the discarded netting and died. It was neat seeing the skeletons, I hoped they strangled, I wouldn't wish death by ants on anything but ants, spiders, and wasps. LOL

I would definately try to eat those snakes! Never had snake before, but I'm sure there is plenty of snake-eating info all over the internet. Like anything I'm sure, as long as you cook it correctly it should be edible, not sure about palateable though. LOL

Hey Kim, you are right in the center of the snake eating capital of the world. I wouldn't be suprised if they have them on the menu at Micky D's.

Snake doesn't taste bad at all, usually it's deep fried. I fed some to Sharon's youngest daughter a few years ago, she turned a little pale when we told her what it was but then she dove right back in. I always said that girl had potential.

And the snakes don't die of stranglation, more like dehydration and starvation.
