So what if GMO corn causes cancer

This is a blanket statement and I am not sure what you are getting at.

There is nothing to back this statement up with.

And, who are you directing this at?

I believe I have done my research. In scientific journals the jury is still out on GMOs. Half the scientists post papers that support GMOs, half against.

A big issue here is I Believe (and so do many others) that people should be allowed to make the choice! Why hide the fact that it is a gmo food if they have nothing to be ashamed of. I believe that "cost of labelling would make the price go up" is a sorry excuse and does not hold water in my mind. I can go into that more later ....

I am taking GMO to be a separate issue from Organic. Now, while a seed must be non-GMO to be Organic, not all non-GMOs are organically grown. For myself, I am careful about making sure anything I plant is not GMO and I prefer not to even grow hybrids since I wish to save seed. And I grow organically. I'd still have a hard time believing my Silver Queen or Yolo Wonder seed I buy is GMO no matter the seed company and whether they've signed this pledge or not.

I have a question concerning companies and the GMO labeling law trying to be passed. If GMO does not do harm to humans why do these companies have such a hate towards the label? If they wanna get rid of the label law so desperately are they hiding something?
Honestly, the label in my opinion would be nice. At least I know what's in the food and if GMO doesn't do anything it shouldn't be a problem. From what I understand it's just a label too... Just a little label.. Yet Mosanto and other companies make up all this propaganda crap to make others believe the label is bad and will ruin everything. Their reaction to it doesn't seem right to me.

Monsanto does not want labeling cause many people, given the choice, will chose to eat non GMO foods which will cut there profits. There fight has nothing to do with safety. They are worried about your opinion eating away at there bottom line. As they should be. It will only take maybe 1% of the population choosing non GMOs to get the rest of the food industry to split the market, making GMO an non GMO sell as separate items at separate prices. Thats why its not only not required to label GMOs, it is illegal to label non GMOs.

GMO an non GMO crops being sold as the same product in the same pile is key to GMOs staying the top choice for farmers. Farmers want to grow what everyone wants so the price is high. All it takes is one big company to choose to only bid on non GMO an every farmer in the nation will be breaking out there calculator thinking about what crop will be in there dirt next season.

Quote: Changing a label is cheap
Making SURE of what is in a load of grain can be VERY expensive.

The only result of labeling rules would be that everything NOT "Certified Organic" would be labeled "MAY contain GMO"
It would be nearly impossible to enforce, and extremely costly to implement.

If you don't want GMO's, buy Certified Organic.
But don't fool yourself into thinking the organic farmers aren't in it for the money too

In the meantime GMO crops are invading regular crops with cross contamination. If it continues , in the future, we could have a monoculture set of seeds. On one hand the corporation that 'owns' the patent (life itself) will control the price and availability. On the other hand if something should happen to wipeout these seeds, there would be no alternatives left.

People all over the world are having problems with cross contamination. Wiping out heirloom varieties of maize in Mexico that have been around for centuries, and so on and so forth. If the big corporations find out that any grown seeds happen to contain their patented gene , by cross contamination and no fault of the farmer, they will sue the farmer and literally strip him of his livelyhood. This in itself is enough for me to be against GMOs. The human cost.

I would look to the government for allowing the patenting of seeds then.
