Some of my Scaly pets

Back when my DH and I co owned a pet shop, we had a large tokay get out. Man, after the lights were turned off, you could hear him bark when you were in the front. He usually stayed in the stock room, catching loose feeder mice and crickets. BTW, the store was 8,000 square feet. He was loud and mean! Nobody even attempted to catch him. I always wanted an albino pacman but hubby wouldnt let me. Got a red tail boa instead!

I do have a reptile room. It's an area in my basement closed off. I keep a heater down there and it stays at a consistent 73, perfect for most of my gecko species.

Yea tokay's are mean little creatures. The picture of him latched onto my gloves, he lasted about 15 minutes that way, I could NOT get him off. By the time I did, there was a HUGE indent in my finger.

Wow! So many cool scaly pets... And that opossum is freakin adorable! I want one!

Here's my one and only scaly pet:

His name is Mr. Slithers - my boyfriend rescued him when some little kid threw him over the fence at the park in a backpack. We had a herpetologist come over and take a look at him since we didn't know anything about him or about how to care for snakes... She said he's an albino California King. Since then we have grown to really like the little guy - he's very cool to watch - even though he's not the friendliest snake in the world. He's got a nice cage now but we're really excited to move to our new house because we're going to convert a china cabinet into a really big enclosure for him... He's going to be a happy little snake

I would love to make a reptile room and get some other critters. I love bearded dragons in particular... So cute and snuggly

Very cool snake.

Yea, I'm lucky enough to have a reptile room, now I don't have to stare at all the cages. lol

Here are some pics of the room, about 1/4 of it.

Ive wanted geckos and a pacman frog for a while but so far my sister is the only one to have any reptiles. I havent gotten the pacman yet simply because i used to have pet rats and mice and the little pests hold a special place in my heart, and i dont think i could feed pinkies

Ive also had my eye on the tokay but the aggression has put my mom off. I really like the look of the gargoyle geckos though

You could always feed big roaches instead of the pinkies

Oh reeallly now?? Like store bought roaches or what crawls across our cafeteria floor? Would they need feeding everyday , everyother day , or ??

Dubia roaches, flightless, slow, and can't climb surfaces. Perfect reptile food. Eat anything you throw in the bin (dog food, cat food, veggies) and emit no odor (unlike smelly crickets). You could buy 10-20 adult pairs and have hundreds of babies and never need to purchase food. I just ordered my first dubia colony today. The warmer you keep them, the more they'll reproduce.
