I am with you EM turkeys are bad news. When I was younger on our farm in Texas we got a flock of turkeys. They where the most stupid birds I have ever had to deal with, We had a drum that we cut in half for water for our goats, we had it in a wooden holder well one turkey got up there and walked in the drum and drowned. I had to make the stupid things get out of the rain because they had their heads up letting the water get into their nose and mouth lost a couple that way.

Then one walked into an electric fence.

They would not stay in their pen they kept flying into the pig and goat pen and getting chases by the other animals,

I was glad when it was butcher time. I have never wanted turkeys since.

Em doesn't want these turkeys, but these turkeys want her.

Dogs, small children and turkey poults--they can tell. Be very, very careful, Em.

I disagree with you both-I love my turkeys! They are more fun and friendly than my chickens! I currently have 6 Royal Palm babies in my brooder and I can't wait til they grow up! They are my favorite birds!

I am not saying all turkey's are bad just saying what happened when we had some not sure what type or anything, just that they were the most stupid pita birds ever. I might have to try turkeys someday if I can find the right breed that is not so stupid,

Nothing a good pair of leather gloves won't cure although I found mine always manage to find that one spot that isn't covered!!

My broody last year was so sweet she let me move her and would talk to me while I sat and watched her. She was a bantam EE and I love her but this one oh boy I do need gloves. I hope none of my other hens lay eggs in that nest box so I don't have to deal with her much.
