Junkmanme,
I have talked to you before. I do live about 6 miles from "downtown" Campobello. That is where I get some of my grains for the chickies.

If I lose power I have a generator and a kero heater plus a few electric heaters that we can use. I only worry about my baby chicks. Us humans will be fine.

Okay plenty of animal feed, plenty of human feed, diesel for generator, wood for stove....think thats is...oh now heading off to the chicken auction

big time date night here in midlands...chicken auction and dinner!

On a sadder note lost a pullet today...she was fine this am came home this afternoon and she was listless..brought her in she had some dried poop on her bottom cleaned it off gave her some sugar water and kept her in with me and she laid down and died. Everyone else in her pen looks fine...poop wasn't bloody...

keeping an eye on the rest.

No she was young...actually the little one I got from Dipsy...the one that would spin in circles when she got excited. I will miss her.

I sorry that you lost a little chickie snick that is sad

I have candled all my eggs that I got from John and Beth. I had 20 to start and I now have 10 so I will watch them closely. I hope we dont loose power cause im having to work all weekend but I do have a solution for the bator if we loose power. I found a 50w 12volt rv light bulb...yep i can rewire it up to a battery and hope that the battery will stay charged.

12 degrees this morning, and I had no power in the house from 11 pm to 6 am! I'm cold, I'm ticked, and I have to go pull another calf. Be back in a while.

Nadine,

Thanks for the Reply! Yes, I do NOW recall we visited before. (I fergit stuff -- Old-Timer's Disease, I figure...Ha-Ha !!! )

I hope your weather improves SOON !

The weather has "settled down" a bit here "Out-West"...but it's still Bitter COLD.

BEST Regards,

It is a bitter 16 according to my outside thermometer! I can't feel my nose or my toes. This is horrid weather. At least with snow it warms up.
I fill the water containers for the birds and a minute later it is frozen again. I am afraid someone is going to get their beak frozen in the container!

This is just crazy weather but I have seen it down to 5 at night for such a long time that Lake Cunningham in Greer froze over. That was back in the early 80's. I don't want 5 degrees again!

Well, maybe this snow coming in won't be as bad as they were saying but I am still as ready as I can be.

Nadine,

You're getting "High-Altitude" weather in those Lowlands !!!

It was 5 F at this time yesterday here ( 6,500 feet altitude).

We've gotten a "break" this morning....It's 28 F here NOW. (That's very good for here...in early morning. )

If you don't get a lot of wind with your incoming snow....it may not be so cold...
(but I know that your area commonly has to contend with "ice-storms" which we seldom get out here.)

I hope it warms up there for you !!!
