Joy holy cow I've never heard 2 pyrs going after each other if they roam together. Mine is a house dog now (don't judge, he likes to eat chicken like his mom but prefers the feathered alive version) and is so big I could never even imagine trying to get to of them seperated. Did you count your fingers and your toes? Yikes!
Jackie, my girls are sisters......need I say more? They haven't quite decided yet who gets to be Alpha dog. They've gone at each other 3 times, not something you forget. Once I was out there with them by myself (it seems to be a jealousy thing with my attention). I could NOT get them separated, tried until I hit the ground with exhaustion, called my son on the cell phone and he came out and we still had to work to get them apart. That is the kind of strength they have. If you've never seen a pyr fight, it's an incredible thing and sure makes me feel small. They stand up on back legs, lock jaws and growl and bark so.....makes us think of polar bears. They sure could give a bear a fight. Anyway, the first time it happened they were smaller and I grabbed Georgia by the tail but she wouldn't let go of Dixie. Dixie was trying to get away, dragging Georgia and Georgia dragging me across the ground on my butt. Funny picture I know, go ahead and laugh. They drug me until I locked my feet into the dog house and stopped them. Georgia let go of Dixie and turned to see what was stopping her. I didn't know if she would jump on me next or what. It took her a half a second to change the look on her face and start licking my face. They would never hurt me and I don't think they'd really hurt each other. Never has there been bloodshed between them. Not more than a scratch. But when they fight, I'm not getting between them. I've been told to grab a tail and pull and that's what I do.
we camp each year for thanksgiving, I have a dane my best friend has a dane.. they guys were out in the woods several miles away.. we were fixing breakfast and Morgan was stirring the eggs.. well her dane decides to go for the eggs.. big mistake cause those eggs were Cisco's girl egg.s big fight.. cisco was doing his job protecting his girl.. it went on for a while. she finally took a big stick and hit hers on the snout and we both grabbed collars.. when the guys came out of the woods for breakfast. they asked .. was there a dog fight.. " yup..." we could hear them all the way down the road and in the woods
the big kids make some noise when it happens and like your girls when their matched up.. its hard to get them apart.. we never were able to take the two danes any where else together after that fight..
