No, they are not a new breed for me! I am getting closer to what I want. Most lavenders seem to have such mixed up genes in their backgrounds I am trying to clean their genes

I am getting some porcelains which isn't all bad but I would like a cleaner lavender. I also seem to be getting a wild pattern but only 2 dark stripes on the lavender.
They are just so cute though so I had to share.
I hope you share that photo shoot!

Here is an interesting dilemma.
I hatch game chicken eggs for a friend of mine. on the average they have been hatching like quail in 23 days.
so I let them stay in the turner for 19 days ( actually what the instructions for the GQF1270 recommends )
now I have four that hatched out at 19 days before they got separated into the hatching ray compartments so I have no idea which chicks came from which breeding pairs. other then what numbers are written on which of the broken eggs so I can not properly band their legs.
grrrrrrrrrrrrr chicks can be aggravating even before they get hatched good. oh well, you just got to love them anyway.

You know I can't wait to get my hands on that little boy! I seldom get to hold human babies. Mostly they are furred or feathered. LOL

It is a professional photographer coming in so I doubt I will see the photos for a while. But when I get some I will be sure to share. I can just imagine what this will be like. Ducklings are not always easy to deal with. LOL I am sure Witt will be good as gold.

They look good. I am sure lavender is hard to get.
I have one roo that I am using for my Sizzle pen and some days I just don't see how he is called lavender but then again, I have no idea what else to call him because he is not blue. I am not looking a gift horse in the mouth either. He will still add some neat color to my Sizzles. Right now he is with a buff Sizzle hen. I have eggs in the bator so we shall see what they produce, though she does not have lavender in her background, only blue.

Even with eggs that have been kept in the house collected for a few days before setting seem to get a jump start on incubating in this heat.
My Muscovy leaves her 18 Guinea eggs for long stretches during the day right now because it is so hot that they can coast for a long time without her on them. She prefers to hang out by the pool!

I used to have the same problem with chicks that hatched early but now I have a different schedule for setting. I have put them in baskets to hatch so I knew who came from whom since a lot of the Mille Fleur bantam Cochins look alike or even my white bantam Cochins but now I stagger hatches with one week of only this pen and the next week the other pen. However, when you happen to have 8 pens running of the same breed that makes it more difficult. But those bantams do like to pop out early!

Very pretty! The lav and buff should give you what hey are calling porcelain, the added blue would darken the saddle and hackles. Would probably look great on a sizzle!

Thanks, yes, that is what I was going for. I have Porcelain Silkies but they are young yet so I hope with the hatch of eggs from this pair I will have plenty of awesome colors to use.
I think Sizzles and Frizzles are really fun to work with and the curly feathering can make a mundane bird look really great.

My main Sizzle roo, Tawney, has given me some neat offspring.

And one of my other creations from Sizzles that I sold....

In Frizzles I have created a black Mottled, which I have yet to get a photo of so will try for that today some time since she is now 3 months old.
But I do have Shazam, my Mille Fleur Frizzle roo.

And in the back is one of my blue Silkies that I hatched from my nice pen of Silkies that got killed when the LGD decided to go walk about one night. At least I still have her and a few others from that breeding pen to continue to hatch for my Sizzle projects. I like adding blue to my Sizzle pens.

These are just fun projects that I enjoy working with. A lot of backyard chicken owners want a few interesting pets like this and I do enjoy hatching them off and growing some up. They are pretty, sweet and easy to pet and love. Great for kids but us adults love them, too.

Now, I need to get out and take photos of that black Mottled pullet with all her curl going on.
