Hahahaha- this is all so familiar to me!! I'm a Texan born and raised and I married a New Yorker and we live in Tennessee now. We've had our share of culture clashes, mostly him making fun of me- but he does agree that Tex-Mex is the best food in the world and yes- Shiner is the best beer! Ha- just recently I said something about picking up the house and got called out!

I'll never forget the time I visited South Carolina from California and someone said,

"We'uns is fiddin' to het up g'ionder, shortly. 'Want us'ns to carry y'along?"

I had to ask, "Huh?"

(I was then informed that this translates as: "We're going up the way in a little while - would you like to come with us?")

Of course I didn't know what cracklin braid, paper jaylee, or sweet milk was at the time, either.*

*cracklin braid = corn bread with a chunk of fatback in it
Paper jaylee = jalapeno pepper jelly
sweet milk - whole milk.

Darn you Southern folks!!! I come here and see there is new replies to this and somethin comes over me and I have to click on it. When I do click on it I read more and more cool stuff that makes me want to move down there. Darn y'all!!! Now whats that cheap airplane ticket site again, LOL.
