Even Virginia is considered the upper limit of acceptability when it comes to being Dixie bred. Ask anybody who takes their Southern Heritage seriously and you will find that the bona-fide Southerner hails from one of the following:
Louisiana,
Mississippi,
Alabama,
Georgia,
South or North Carolina ,
Tennessee,
Kentucky
"Fringe Southerners" are from:
Arkansas
Virginia
Texas isn't Southern, sorry to say... it is a world unto it's own. Oklahoma is also excluded; it is the land of Okies and is solely unique.
