Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Just woke up, had a bad night. And of course it's raining. I need to feed everyone and do the chores, it probably won't be till just after noonish. I have your number in case the day gets any worse.
See you then! They are so cute, I have them in a cage on my deck eating breakfast right now. Such good girls.

) know of anyone who might have some large cochin hatching eggs that can ship pronto? I want to give them to my broody australorp. Prefer partridge or buff but I'll take what I can get.

Such a lovely soft morning. The rain is coming, and we really do need it. My t'ai chi is done, just have to dremel my dog's nails, then I can go put the bowls of layer pellets under overhangs so The Bawkettes won't have to eat soggy feed. I hope that everyone has a very upbeat, positive day, with steps forward in making your days brighter. here's to growing gardens, hatching chicks, and the lilacs are coming.

Speaking of Araucanas.

I have a new group of 8 eggs in the bator . Started yesterday. Trying a dry hatch this time. I really wished I had a broody hen to have stuck them under. The woman I got them from says it is an extremely difficult breed to hatch. Everyone keep you fingers crossed.

Only have my tomatoes to stick in the ground and maybe another pepper or two. I will pick up the plants when I go to Brimfield next week. Its a famliy run farm and their plants are beautiful and very reasonable. Suzanne, brimfied is a place you and bobby have to check out. Thousands of antique dealers invade the town for about a week. They also have the largerst tractor supply I have ever seen. Heading up to Boston after brimfield. Can't wait to see the look on the bell hops face when he has to put a flat of plants on the cart for me.

I truly think I was sent a salmon Faverolle rooster instead of a girl from Ideal. Just my luck. Dark brown and black as opposed to the blonde and biege one. Just can't stand the thought of dealing with them again.

Have a great day with your peeps.
Carol, I have had 5 salmon faverolles from hatcheries, 3 of them had a lot of dark on them and I thought they were boys, but all turned out to be my favorite hens (one is still named charlie that is how sure we were it was a boy). I think it is just bad hatchery quality. They get too much mahogany on them. They are supposed to be really wonderful roosters though, gentle and easy going (I know you can't have boys though).

Check with County Boy. He is in our upstate NY thread and has lots of Cochins, all very beautiful from the pics he posts. I know several are bantam, but think he has LF also.

Is there still a problem with the Post office and eggs? I've been considering quail eggs but the only place I found anyone with Coturnix is out of state. I don't want to have them shipped unless I can feel reasonably sure they'll arrive safely.
