What is the name and Where is the feed store in Shirley?  I live in Nassau but would like to have an alternative place to go if something is not available.  Thanks!

Shirley Feed
675 Montauk hwy
Shirley NY

(sunrise hwy to William Floyd pkwy south, right on montauk hwy. few blocks down on the right)

It's small mostly dog / cat stuff but they do have chicken feed, bales of shaving & hay.

I go there cause its close to me.

Somedays you know you shouldn't answer the phone ..yesterday my husband called asking me if he could bring a goat home.... Someone dropped it off at the clinic. Very friendly walks on a leash(my dog doesn't even do that) I said NO and he said he was going to anyway..Why bother calling? He must of thought better of it and it's still at the hospital...thank goodness.this is all I need. I already have a dog, snake, bearded dragon, two turtles and my girls. I say my girls 'cause none of the other creatures are mine. They just appear and he knows I'll take care of them. In 35 years of marriage I only ever had the occasional dog and a parrot yet at one point there were 13 animals in this house. He would bring them home under the pretense that they were for Adam. Some how they ended up mine.

It's a good think Bobby doesn't have access to this website. He would love to have a goat. Can you imagine what our neighbors would say????

Carol, I'm sending you a PM.

So here's the latest on Pauline, as in the Perils of...Once again, she found a way out of the brooding pen. This time, the big girls pecked her so badly, I found her with a big bloody bald spot on her neck. This all happened while I was out yesterday morning. Cleaned her up, applied bacitracin and it's back into the living room for her.

I have to figure out how she's breaking out of that pen. Clara has been sleeping next to the brooder box in the living room. She has totally bonded with this poor little baby. Good thing, because it's going to be weeks before I let her out of my sight again.

My kids have been begging for a goat. My husband keeps saying no because he doesn't like their EYES?

Better you than me!

smkchick, your sweet Pauline must have the Houdini gene! You're taking excellent care of her. Perhaps she'll bond with Miss Clara, and as Pauline matures, she'll feel more calm and settled, and be better able to intergrate? I'm hoping for good things for your girls. You're such a caring Mama to them!

I also use the Agway on 25A in port Jeff
and the Agway in riverhead
And you don't stop to say hi? I'm in Miller Place! By the way, Brian's Aquarium in Rocky Point has feed and supplies too! They stock chicken feed, horse feed and some other farm animal supplies. I go there, since it's a small mom and pop store, and there's a few people at Agway in PJ that make me uncomfortable.
