Babies, babies, everywhere! I have 3 broodies on eggs hatching this week and 3 more hens just went broody. Geesh. Good thing my cousin wants some babies. Roberta, i did the same thing with my wormed eggs, but gave them to the broodies to get them over it.It will be the better part of august before they lay again and then they will probably go into molt. Maybe things will go back to normal after i give away the chicks? My luck will be that they try to set another clutch.

Morning all,
Hey Christina how are the quail?

Roberta, the maran eggs you have won with at shows, are they febrile, and if so are they for sale?
I have a broody RBLW and I need to put some eggs under her. I don't want to put just anything under her.although I have wanted a Sumatra to add to my flock. You know anyone with those?

Suzanne my road trip partner , I'll take the ride with you, I just have to see if I can cancel an appointment . I can't let you take that ride from hell alone.

I really don't have good fertility because my Clyde is servicing way too many hens.
And Marans eggs are not as easy to hatch in the first place, their shells are very thick.
And impossible to candle because of them being so dark.
This winter I hatched out over 100 eggs.
I got SIX pullets.
How many did you want?

Thanks Roberta, with my luck I'd get all Roos. Since my hatch with my Arucanas was so disappointing I think I'm going to try and get some from another source and try again . Thanks again

I love watching my momma hens wander around with the babies. So adorable. My sweet silky adopted the lone blue ameracana chick that hatched out Friday. She seems to know its younger than her other 3. I see her giving it mouth fulls of feed out of the feeder. I have to keep her in a puppy play pen because she attacks the other moms if they get within 10 feet of her. The other moms are 3 times her size so I worry about her getting hurt.

Good morning, Peeps!

Has anyone here ever had baby Turkey's? They give the words "emotional Black hole of Need" a new depth and meaning. Unlike chicks, that kind of avoid you when you walk past the brooder...I have two SCREAMING poults. And their eyes are SO BIG and sweet, you have to pick them up and put them under your chin for a cuddle. When you do this, of course, they snuggle in and go right to sleep.

How in the heck am I going to finish packing the camper with two Turkey Poults under my chin? I further want to know why I didn't get Turkeys years ago? I might not have 4 kids. KIDDING!!!

So we leave for Indian Island this afternoon. With two turkeys. 4 kids, 2 dogs, and a partridge in a pear tree...

I will get your CL chicks to you in a few weeks. I have family from out of state staying with me. They go home on the 10th. I will be able to make the drive out with them after that.
