Good Sunday morning all!
So happy to be back from vacationing down at the Jersey Shore. What a mess everything still is there from Superstorm Sandy. You would not believe the damages. Sad.
I tried my hand at saving a seagull who was thrashing around on the side of the road with what looked like broken legs.
I was riding my bike and flagged down a truck who let me throw the bike into the back of the truck, borrow a pair of work gloves and pick up the poor bird so we could drive it to the beginning of the park where a bird sanctuary could pick him up and hopefully rehab.
It was interesting holding a seagull on my lap. Of course he pooped on me! Just like my hens! And he tried biting me a few times.
Happy to see my hens looking well, if not extremely hot. My pet/house sitter did an awesome job taking care of my two pups and chickies. She even cleaned out the chicken poop in the coop daily. I do that to keep flies down but told her she didn't have to do it too but I am so glad she did. No smell, no flies.
I never did find the two missing chicks, it's a mystery for sure.
Looks like three of my four cochins are girls!!! Hooray! There is one who is beyond a doubt a roo. His entire stance and comb scream boy! Oh well, looks like I will be looking for a home for a beautiful Gold laced Cochin rooster soon. Any takers???
At what age do they start crowing again? Though I have heard that cochin boys don't crow as much, wonder if that's true?
Happy Belated 4th of July!
Glad the little turkey found a parent!
Stay cool!
