I don't know the full story on the Dr in Armonk but I'm guessing it's the roosters that are causing the problem. It feels like there is so much fear and ignorance, it's like being a pit bull owner. Worse, at least there are shows about rehabbed pitties on tv now.

There's a workshop on backyard chicken keeping taking place June 24 at Blue Hill Stone Barns:

I went to one they did as part of harvest fest and thought it was good but more on the introductory side. Maybe good for folks just starting?

As for the feed I'll keep it separate for now but the chicks are getting older so I guess the answer is don't panic when I see them eating layer feed.

Roberta I think one of our neighbors has moles, there are holes in the front yard and the puppy wanted to put her nose in every one of them and snifffff..... Lol

Well, at least if I got that tattoo, nobody would think I'm a dangerous gang member!

Thanks, he's a little chicken obsessed. Like the rest of us! I'm making warm oatmeal with live yogurt and honey for the girls today-I'm in the mood to cook, and I've heard chickens like that stuff (from an equally chicken obsessed friend of mine) The kids will have cold cereal.

That's a great idea, but with 4 kids, I'd be covered with ink! My oldest son drew a picture when he was 4 or 5 of me and him in a heart. it says "I lve yu." (before he got the whole vowel thing) I love that picture. I'd have THAT as a tattoo.

Laser chicken giving the stink eye would just scare me.

I want a tattoo of what I say all the time - "Very nice. Now go sit down." Of course, now that I won't be a teacher anymore, it wouldn't make sense.

You'll be surprised at how often you'll say that no matter what you're doing. I say something along those lines to my kids all the time-my youngest is a total chatterbox. "That's wonderful sweetie, now hush and start eating" Mealtimes take forever with that one.

A fireman friend of my husbands has a few very funny tattoos. One is of a couple of strips of bacon. If you ask him why he just asks "Who doesn't love bacon?" another one of his is of 3 little black ants. each has a name under it-yep-you guessed it-his 3 favorite aunts.

I forget some of the others, but his body is a billboard for funny. Gotta love that.
