Wow it's hard to incorporate the 3 different
batches of chicks together. It's like they form
3 different gangs, they stay with their group and
every once in a while total kayos erupts.

Karen, I have the same problem. It's like having 3 flocks. I have the 6 big girls, the 4 medium girls and the 4 babies (3 girls, 1 roo). The babies actually intermingle with the big girls more than the medium girls, but I think that may be because the roo is with them. The medium girls rarely come out of the coop and the babies stay in a different part of the run than the big girls. And you're right. Once in a while all of them get together and there's chaos!

When I let the big and medium girls out to free range, they go to different parts of the yard. At night the big girls roost, the medium girls sleep in a nest box and the babies sleep in a corner. Oh well.

And in case anyone is counting, that adds up to 8.

OK roberta. you know marans right? these are from pure, different varieties of marans in a pen all together. What does this cutie look to be? I have another with darker colors but certainly not black coloring. Just so pretty in browns and tans.

And then 2 which are black and white.

Good morning all; A lot of reading to do. Went up to visit with my family on Sat. 2+ hours up. We had a BBQ at Round Pond ; a place on West Point. I grew up going there every week end growing up. Rained part of the day Thankfully we had a covered pavilion .I injured my arm pretty badly when I fell playing kickball with the kids.I rounded them up and took them to go play ball 'cause Icouldn't stand listening to their parents yell at them anymore. I drove back the same night. went to the ER on Sunday morning at 7:00 'cause I couldn't move it.It isn't broken. They said possible rotator cuff (would rather have it broken. I am icing it for now to see if it gets better.
I so love having my son home. he heads back Wed.
Sorry if this typing is a mess I'm still getting use to thisipad.

So sorry to hear about your shoulder. We have a rule that my husband is not allowed to play games with kids anymore. The last time he kicked a soccer ball around with a bunch of 8 year olds...he broke his wrist! Oh, and he had major rotator cuff surgery that was not arthroscopic....so we've been through that too. Hope you feel better really soon.

I'm having the same problem and even have to keep my groups separated so they can get equal access to food. My 3 groups have only a 2-3 week difference in age...but I think that having to "quarantine" each group as I brought them home has caused this issue. If I had plopped them all together in one brooder, I'm sure everything would have been fine. Instead i played it safe and gave each group their own brooder in the living room. I have a large coop and haven't been able to integrate them into one big happy family. Any suggestions would be welcomed...Tina

I have 3 ohikis for free in Chatham- two roos and a hen. I can't keep them because I have too many over the city limit. 

Nice offer! I can't do Roos and may be rehoming our gorgeous WC blue polish....there is still some debate on the polish and silkie threads as to what the sex is. Tina
