Did you all see this article on bears and chicken coops - Christine?

I don't know, there's a difference between having 5 hens and 110 but still, made me think twice about whether or not I should splurge on electric fencing in another year or so. We've had black bear sightings around here.
Don't even get me going on the bears. They finally mowed the hay in the field by the coop, so that should deter the predators some. We have been toying with the idea of electric fence over that 1/3 of the acre so that the predators stay out along with the deer, but we hate the idea of a fence over there. Maybe I can put up a split rail and wire that around.

More eye candy.

OK roberta. you know marans right? these are from pure, different varieties of marans in a pen all together. What does this cutie look to be? I have another with darker colors but certainly not black coloring. Just so pretty in browns and tans.

And then 2 which are black and white.

Oh oh oh, so CUTE! I love it!

I have so much I want to do today. I'm trying really hard to get motivated. I watered the yard and garden and pruned a rosebush so far, but that's hardly a drop in the bucket!

OK, girls all off their nests and 4 total peeps. Mommas are scratching and showing them how to eat. I love and could watch this for hours. Chicken language is very interesting!
