Steroids work wonders.
I figured since I was already corroded, I went out to clean up the bushes at the curb.
No new itching, which makes me feel that I got it UNKNOWINGLY from the clippings that some dummy threw in the run.

Loyd was sleeping on his back this morning. No complaints YET.

Great news! One of my students at Sylvan was telling me about his family's chickens and I mentioned that I had a Light Sussex hen and rooster I was trying to get rid of. Long story short, I spoke to his mom and she wants to take them. The only concern is the little guy fitting in with their current rooster.

I also caught the new Perdue commercial and it sort of threw me that they were trying to cash on in everyone's new found love of chickens, and present their birds like they are bastions of health and freedom.

Sure enough, it's not really what you think.

My brother in law is completely freaked out by my hens because he grew up with chickens and he thinks they are filthy, dirty animals. The difference of cousre is that his mother actually burned their beaks off (!!), crammed them into a tiny coop, and had them butchered regularly, never once taking them to a vet or medicating them or anything. His mother is a total nightmare, btw. I had a hard time convincing him that our hens are like pets and treated very differently but I guess Nutmeg was the best ambassador:

Oh boy we are hatching out this morning!

Went outside to bring my 3 broody girls treats as they didn't come off their nests at all yesterday. Today is hatch day!
So far I see 2 babies out of their shells peeping loud and clear.....and hoping for 3 more if the eggs were good.

Happy day!
All are pure marans so I am excited to see what colors I get out of these.

Good morning all; A lot of reading to do. Went up to visit with my family on Sat. 2+ hours up. We had a BBQ at Round Pond ; a place on West Point. I grew up going there every week end growing up. Rained part of the day Thankfully we had a covered pavilion .I injured my arm pretty badly when I fell playing kickball with the kids.I rounded them up and took them to go play ball 'cause Icouldn't stand listening to their parents yell at them anymore. I drove back the same night. went to the ER on Sunday morning at 7:00 'cause I couldn't move it.It isn't broken. They said possible rotator cuff (would rather have it broken. I am icing it for now to see if it gets better.

I so love having my son home. he heads back Wed.

Sorry if this typing is a mess I'm still getting use to thisipad.

Ouch! Rotator cuff injuries stink! My girlfriend just had her surgery done on 1 side and is in her 6th week of recuperation. Feeling better she says!
Good luck, hope it clears up quickly for you.
