Okay, you two have to stop with the zucchini. My plant apparently has a calcium deficiency, which is causing the zucchini to rot on the vine before reaching maturity. I gave the plant a healthy dose of eggshell, but I don't know if it will help.

I have almost as much luck with zucchini as I do with hatching...

I had to stop watering mine too much.....as it was beginning to rot and lost 1 plant entirely.

I stopped watering mine awhile ago. I added the eggshells and gave it a little water. New blossoms - we'll see what happens.

I'm very disappointed. This is the 3rd year I've been unsuccessful with zucchini. I'm gonna be drowning in cucumbers, though!!

Awesome zuchinis Heather. I tried squash last year and only got one. The plant wound up getting powdery mildew I'm assuming from too little sun. UGH! I'm looking to plant some new plants in the garden wher I just picked the last of the lettuce, any ideas? It only gets partial sun.

Glad everyone liked the tee, hope it came out ok. I want to order one of those for myself. :)

I should make up cards for you to give out! I've been so busy trying to market my graphic design skills, I haven't had time to devote to marketing my chicken tees, though know I should do so.

So much to do… so little time. It's like what the heck do I tackle first. Hubby complains I am on the computer too much but tells me to get a job when I complain I don't have enough money. Duh! What does he think I do on here? Peruse this forum all day?

Between twittering, pinterest, facebook, craigslist, byc and soon to be dribbble, I can't keep track. But seriously, I think there may be some good free advertising and marketing once you make a name for yourself on the social networks. I've been doing graphic design for so long and have never really tried to make a name for myself. I think it's time!

Thank you very much...I got those fluffy silkies and the 2 polish from a nice breeder in Maryland, the week after Mothers Day. A week or so later, I bought 3 pure black silkie (bl x bl) chicks from a breeder in Pennsylvania. I traveled to Virginia twice in one month and managed to convince my husband to drive out of our way to pick up the chicks for our daughter. I'm trying hard to get some nice quality chicks for my daughter (and me too

). Obtaining good stock seems to be a bit like trying to pull teeth!
Lindsey wants to show and breed, but I'm not sure if breeding is what I am up to doing. We are trying to keep under the radar with our chickens, and having several roosters for breeding pens may be a problem. I recently looked into buying some show quality pullets.....but the price is between $100-$150 per bird. Yikes! So, I'm looking into buying an incubator and hatching eggs instead.
BTW, I just saw your YouTube video and LOVED it! How neat to be featured in that clip! It is really nice to see how much you care for your birds.
Tina
Thank you Tina! I was nuts for silkies and have hatched out so many nice birds. Ask Jeanette!LOL We are kindred souls and met through silkies.I hope to add 2 of hers to my flock soon.

I want overboard though. Had 3 bators going at 1 time in my house and brooders all over the place. Made my men crazy with chick dust and chick talk. They just were overloaded with "my hobby" and I burnt them out..Then we bought a big old farmhouse with some property and had to move. ugh...........still not chicken organized but getting there.

Took a long hiatus from incubating.....and now after settling into this big old house will attempt some more silkie hatching I believe.
Next time my silkie goes broody it's all silkie eggs I will provide her with. I am playing with the idea of a silkie roo but could get in big trouble and fined heavily.....so have stayed away from that so far. But I might test the waters.
Maybe I can get some eggs from you.:<)

Try Kale! I pick/grow it all season long. Drought hardy and the king of green veggies. I've even had it in large pots winter over which was cool.

I have a few roos that can take a little ride over to your place, Maggie...
Conjugal visit?
One of them did very well at the Mass. show, he got a blue ribbon!
