Thanks, yes, we are in survival mode. The father-in-law is having a quad bypass today or tomorrow. The damage in the flock is contained. I have to say that sour crop is disgusting, only second to what comes out when you treat it... not sure if the hen will make it or not. The one with rales yesterday is fit as a fiddle today, maybe something was stuck in her throat? All birds have been treated for cooties and the coop is sparkling clean, again. I have one hen that has a mass on her left breast and under the wing. I thought it might be an impacted crop at first, but before she quit eating she would fill her crop and there would be the crop and this large mass. That has been going on for a while and she is near the end. She quit eating two days ago, but is still drinking when offered. I am not sure if this is a malignancy or other, but it is about the size of a baseball, hard and moveable (under the skin over the left breast). She is an older bird, so who knows.I've had times like this myself. If you can switch into what I call "survival" mode for awhile it may help. I go hour by hour and adjust my priorities and activities based on who needs me the most at that moment. I just focus on getting through it all. And if you can stay calm while you are carrying on....it goes a bit easier. Hope everything eases up for you.
Wow! Awesome pic! And how cool is that? Did it just fly up to her or did she coax it? Amazing.

It's a goldfinch, and yes, it does take quite a gift to get one to perch on your finger!omg....what kind of bird is that. She does have the gift now doesn't she?
I want a turkey now and am studying up on them. Anyone here have one?
My friend just picked up a really young poult down in NJ. She's raised some rescues up and they live in sanctuaries now. We have a large wild turky population here as it is illegal to harm/hunt them [eriod. They walk down the streets in my old neighborhood and are the really BIG wild ones.
She said they are so darn sweet and friendly once they trust you.
I want one. I want one NOW.![]()
Did my homework and a Bourbon Red sounds perfect to me.
That's the one I want too. Don't they sound fantastic? My son was reading about them-that's how he decided to ask for one. Wish I could find one now, but everywhere seems to be out of season. (Didn't know there was an actual turkey hatching season.)I want a turkey now and am studying up on them. Anyone here have one?
