Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Is everyone OK out there this morning. What crazy weather. Well another kid is crowing. Just what I need Of the 11 I hatched in July,7 are roosters (and counting) Next spring I think I'm going to just buy Pullets. There are a couple of breeds I am interested in but it's painful and expensive to keep raising Roos that I have to rehome. Next spring if anyone would like to use my little incubator it is all cleaned out.

The kids are already checking out the Little Tykes Cabin, it's very funny.

Wow, touchdown at Breezy Point! That is amazing! My dh friend was there hanging onto a telephone pole for dear life!

I'd love to help out, but I am also screwed in the "rooster vs neighbor" dept.
I will be taking a ton of boys to the Sussex Co show next month to go into the sales cages.
A few more won't hurt. Oct 20. I hear the guy that bought all my roos last time takes them to an auction in NJ.
So I can't really be sure they will be dinner..... but they are out of my yard.

Oh well.

Thanks everyone. I may hitch a ride with you, or meet you, at Sussex on 10/20. I don't think my neighbor will be a problem. He said he doesn't mind, just that he noticed. And it's the hens making noise! So far it's been only one or two hoarse crows from Leon, my only (THANK GOD) roo.

Just want to get rid of the "extras" and extra noisy ones before things get any worse.

I plan to stop over with some eggs and an apology tomorrow. Beautiful day here. Got up early for a beach meeting. The perfect day for my "baby's" birthday!

I brought up to hubby that I may need to take his "many van" to the chicken shows. The look I got....

He is worried it may smell like poop when he gets it back.
At least he cleans the coops out once in a while.
Never has cleaned a cage out inside the house. And you all know how many birds are INside. Double smack. SHIrT.

Why not bring some eggs... and some hens! That will get him loving the chickens for sure!

May I ask how much you are able to get for roosters at the show? I'm putting a few silkies on Craigslist tonight and can't decide on a price that will not turn folks away, Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Unwanted roosters I usually get $5, Silkies, or anything that people really want, between $5-15. I had a Paint Silkie advertised for $30, no interest at all (too much).
It's really a crapshoot with roosters, it just depends on how badly you want to get rid of them. With the price of feed.....
It really depends on the moon and the postion of Jupiter and God knows what else.
I hope I don't have to feed 30 roos over the winter. OY.

Thanks for the info. I will send good thought out into the universe that the planets are in proper alignment and we all are able to place our birds in new homes ASAP. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
