Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Okay I have really got to stop looking at the different breeds of chickens, I really thought BYC would help me...not enable me or make me want more :P
I keep looking at the white sultans...but the whole reason I am starting this was for eggs and they are not known for good laying....so why do I keep going back and looking?

I blame the wonderful nice ladies from my pet chicken, they told me I have room for one more chick last week.....and my order will still be sent express....which has me thinking I can get one more lol

Sultans hardly count, first of all they are bantams, second, the are more of a yard ornament than a chicken.

I like my cabbage Italian style... saute onions or shallots in the fat rendered from sausage, bacon, or pancetta, saute garlic, then saute cabbage, toss with farfalle, then season with salt and pepper (and/or red pepper flakes, oregano, basil, etc). Top with some parmesan or romano. You could make it vegetarian, omit the meat and saute in butter to replace some of the lost flavor.
Oh come on now...i ncan only eat so much........i am gonna try this one too!LOL I went out and bought cabbage today along with some great fennel sausage.

I agree. Since it takes, what? Like 6 bantam eggs to make up 1 full sized chicken egg...she has room for a few more bantams to equal 1 regular chicken.

There. Done.

I got cabbage from my CSA this week. I'd love
to try that recipe but knowing my Irish Mom, it
will get boiled. Boiled cabbage blah, I have to
cover it in ketchup

OK..... so my friend takes my roo marans today.....and then has the nerve to hand me over 1 dozen fertile eggs in all colors. I cannot set them .....i cannot set them........turkens are the daddy of a flock of pure breeds all penned together that I have hatched for him over the past 3 years. What cuties would these make!!!!!!! My turkens were last sept. hatch and all were roos and he took them. I am dearly tempted!!!
No time for incubationg unfortunately.:<(((( Couple of these eggs are genormous!

Ok so I am now bidding on 12+ CL eggs.

Why, oh why am I doing this..... Again.

Where is CFG? Do you want to hatch them
if I win ?

I'll know on Friday

Or if I hatch them will you take the extra babies?

This is dumb. What's the earliest I can put them outside? Like April ?
I'm gonna have chicks in my room for months.

But my other personality is jumping up and down.

Ooh maybe my silkie will still be broody? Hmmmm.
She can't sit 12 eggs though.

Can you tell I didn't think this through at all.
Time to call my therapist. Lol
