Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Morning all, haven't slept all night.fighting off an anxiety attack . I don't know why I so nervous about this storm. This just isn't me. Huge old trees on my property.im also worried about the girls. Sorry just talking it out .
The egg is beautiful and so is the fireplace.
I have always wanted a fireplace or an antique stove.
Be safe everyone.if anyone needs my help after this has past I'll come over and help .
Would it be OK to post my phone # on here for anyone?
Love you guys Carol
Stay safe
I feel the same way, so you are not alone! I'm worried sick. Right now, I am about to head out to pick up some belongings from my parents house which will be evacuated, probably along with my 4 brothers who all live directly on the water.

Scary Stuff but what can we do. I never take drugs but am so nervous, I think I might need a valium to calm me down. Hands are shaking while writing this. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stay safe and I hope you, your family and animals are all safe during this mess!

I got the call from LIPA yesterday afternoon, too.
"We are working hard... MY BUTT.... to let you know you will be out of power just until everything in the freezer is junk, or you need an ambulance because of the panic attack you are about to have...."
Let's hope it doesn't snow so bad that the roads are clear. Even though my fire dept has the WORST response time on Long Island. sigh.

Phone numbers. EVERYTHING posted here is public information, so unless you need a few more wierdo friends that call in the niddle of the night...
Not so sure about PMs either.

My email is [email protected], we can start some kind of emergency network there, I have a generator, but, Optimum cable has a nasty reputation, too.
So who knows.... T-Mobile/ ATT towers also are not so reliable.

I have a few of you guys in my phone, if it gets bad, let's give it a shot.

I don't think this was brought up for anyone with chicks... Those pocket handwarmers work like a charm.
I use them whenever a chick needs to travel. Maybe the stores will have those left.....
Stay sane.

Thanks! I just ate the egg-it was very tasty too! My son claimed the next one already...lol.

I'm with you-we need a network-of helping out after the storm has passed. I feel like you are all my new extended family, and if anyone needs assistance, a place to stay, clean up help-give me a call-I have able hands, a strong back, and some sons that don't mind some work. If anyone needs freezer space, or chicken space if anything happens, Just let me know-I can meet you, or you can come here! if anyone needs food-I have for you all. (I prep 12 months of the year-so I have enough literally to feed everyone) Just say the word. (Buh buh buh bird bird bird...bird is the word...) Ok, now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Don;t feel bad, Carol-I have a gut feeling about this one too. I'm trying to ignore it, and work so I don't have to worry. I find simply doing things to prepare is helping me greatly.

I'm feeling oddly calm. Just curious to see what the adventure of the next few days will turn out to be like. What's really, really, really weird is that my husband is due back to fly in from California to JFK tonight. Plane is supposed to land around midnight. If his flight is cancelled, and if the power goes out here, there not only will be no tv, and no computer, and possibly no phone, and no heat, but with no husband to talk to, all I'll have to pass the time is reading by candlelight.

Ah well, I've got a zillion books on my TO READ shelves. Neighbors are very close by, so I'm not at all frightened. Plenty of food in the house, gallons of water, lots of candles, batteries, etc.

The skies are gray here just now. Wind is a gentle, but constant, breeze, and it's 8:15 am, Sunday, Oct 28. No rain yet.

I have one more small tarp to put up on the ChickArena. It got too dark last night to finish hanging the last one. Also, I ran out of bungee cords and had to run to Home Depot for some more. Got 'em.

I'm going to let the girls out to forage for a few hours. Might be the last time they're out for a few days. I'm on high ground, so I don't expect flooding. There's one big ole tree that might fall the wrong way. We shall see.

My e-mail is [email protected] I also use Terrafarm1@gmail. Both go to my phone, so hopefully verizon towers will remain standing...but I never count on it.

I haven't gotten ANY calls, except from the school district telling me to expect delayed opening...really? Are they Optimists or Idiots? You be the judge.

My husband called to let me know he made himself available to work the emergency in the city.

Such is the life of a firefighters wife. In the past 18 years, I've become a very self sufficient person.

I'm in Dutchess County,

The sun actually popped out for about 8 minutes. Girls are foraging as well here, LSGD close by. I have to run to pick up one of my sons who had a sleep over. Same type of weather Carolyn just described. Wind picking up. Horses grazing....not looking forward the them having to be shut in. I am bummed because I never got the gutters in the barn fixed...ugg...

Hope we can keep power, but I know better!

Good Luck all..

If you need anything, Carolyn, Email me. My husband has to drive by you guys to get home tonight-he can easily stop to help out! (He's really good at tarping and boarding up chicken coops...LOL!!)

My daughters noticed it last night. DH said that's one of the reasons why this storm is going to be so big.
We saw NO moon at all-that's how thick the clouds are here. I just got back from filling my truck gas tank, and my little gas container for the generator. There's a substantial line to the pumps but everyone seems in a fine mood, nobody seemed to be overly concerned.

I have a football game in Smith town at noon, then my little guys game at 1 (I'm going to be commissioning a clone...) then I'm all about battening down.
