OK one of my little polis chicks I got from Christina is keeping its head down almost tucked between it's legs. Has anyone ever had a problem like this? I have been reading about wry neck. Apparently they give them vitamin e and b.
Hey Roberta you out there? She has been eating and drinking. I don't want to stress her anymore by isolating her unless I have to.

Oh no! Carol, none of the others that she came with are acting off. All are happily flying about the brooder. All were vaccinated and no contact with the outside in any way, good biosecurity in place for them. All of my adults are doing really well too.

I haven't picked them up yet but on Saturday I'm headed to Long Island Poultry in Flanders to pick up two Pekin ducks and four chicks. I'm SO excited! The DH is less than enthralled though. He'll be alright once he realizes the chickens don't interfere with the sofa OR the tv

But seriously, please tell me there's a trading post where I can hock one grumpy hubby for some chicken gear.

This made me think of an old joke that always gives me a giggle when I think of it. A woman was driving alone on a long road trip through the southwestern states and at some point she stopped to pick up an old Native American woman standing at the side of the road. The two women rode along in silence until the hitchhiker spotted a box of chocolates on the seat between them. The driver offered one to her, saying, I got them for my husband. And as the Native American lady finished the delicious piece of candy, she said to the driver: "Good trade."

Hi All, I just wanted to stop in again, I really thought I would be here more often last time I checked in but still it seems I don't have time. So without making any promises...I hope I get to visit more often. Just wanted to let you all know that I have been receiving eggs this week. I was so shocked when cleaning up the coop for the girls last Sunday to find six eggs in the box...I hadn't even been looking all week. It was a happy moment and my family got to share in it. We ate them like ten minutes after I found them. My son got really sad that we ate them though. Later in the evening when I tucked them in I found one more egg and he was happy about that. I have since found four more eggs. So now I am playing the guessing game on who is laying etc etc. I also had originally promised to try and hatch some shipped eggs this spring. But with renovations and all the family stuff I don't want to start that. I hope you all are doing well. Thank you for your kindness and experience. This has been one of the best things for my family to experience together. Fun too

He didn't think he wanted the dog, either of the cats, the hermit crabs, baby squirrels or fawns either until they were sleeping on him. I'm a critter keeper. It's who I am. After 8 years you think he'd get the message, lol.

I feel like an expectant mother!

Taking a moment to catch up. Been doing some demolition here and the concrete dust is everywhere from a huge fireplace we took totally down. Ugh.....but I keep trying to see the end result in my mind's eye. Sliding glass doors leading out onto my dream deck surrounded by trumpet vines and gardens. Oh yea........and cleaning up after this powder that seeps everywhere for years to come.

And we tented that section of house off really well. I don't live well at all with demolition...............

On a lighter note.......
My rescue silkie "Brooklyn" laid her first egg! Nice brown tint. 2 days in a row.
She is still living inside with us (vacationing in a pen outside on nice days)but hopefully that changes this week. She is a sweet bird and I am so glad we adopted her.
